The following is meant to serve as a periodic update to let you know what the VAAOM is busy with at the current time. Remember all of these projects would be better served with more help, so if there is anything you see that you would like to contribute to, please contact the Association in order to see what needs to be done. Also, if there is something you feel should be addressed and is not, please contact us to see what help we can offer you.

Happy Spring and Summer Everyone!
The VAAOM Board would like to fill you in on what we have been doing so far this year:
~
Our first priority was to finish the process started by previous
boards of acquiring our non-profit status. After a lot of hard work and
some back and forth with the IRS, it looks like we are well on our way
to being a non-profit entity.
~ Li Ming Tseng has put together an
exciting line up for our next big CEU event featuring Avi Magidoff and
Thea Elijah on the weekend of April 5th and 6th 2008.
~
From the recommendations of last year’s annual meeting, Jeanette Moy
has been working on the by-laws and those will come up for vote by the
general membership at our annual November meeting.
~ We have been looking into the ins and outs of animal
acupuncture in the state. Look for more on this topic from Janet
Sinclair in upcoming months.
~ We recently re-formed some of the
original VAAOM committees; we see this as a way of spreading the fun of
being a member of the VAAOM! These include a legislative committee, a
membership committee, and a website committee. If you have an interest
in being on one of these committees or have a burning desire in
starting one of your own, please contact any board member.

New Insurance Codes

In early February, VAAOM sponsored an informational 'Grand Rounds' event on the recent changes to the insurance billing codes regarding the practice of acupuncture. This is vital information for the integration and validity of our profession. In case you missed this event, we are posting some notes from what was discussed at the link below
Insurance Billing Codes for Acupuncture
Continuing Education

VAAOM continues to supply venues for continuing education throughout the state. Vermont veteran acupuncturist Dan Brown will be talking about scar tissue as it relates to the practice of acupuncture in May down in Rutland. Acclaimed daoist-style practitioner Jeffrey Yuen will be coming to Burlington this October to give a weekend seminar. Stay posted for more opportunities. Click on the link below for more information.

Professional Unification

This website continues to come together, though there is still much to do. Consolidating our presence as an organized association and giving shape to the efforts of the individuals within continues to be an important task at the current time.
